Deep Cleansing with 3 Clays - Japan Dotfree Deep Clay Mask Review

Japan Dotfree Deep Clay Mask Review

Not that excited to get another clay mask but...
Actually I was not that excited to receive another clay mask as I have exfoliating face wash and exfoliating face masks that I have not used up yet, like my Banilla Co. Claypatra Mask. But I decided to go ahead and try to see what is so different about Japanese clay masks.

It has 3 different clay ingredients
Dotfree Deep Clay Mask is part of Dotfree's Peeling Clay line. It has 3 different clays: Ghassoul, Tanagra Clay and White Clay to thoroughly clean out those pores. Not bad at all. Why? Because Dotfree wants to remove all the dots: blemishes, pores etc to make your skin "dotsfree".

It even has AHA fruit acid
And the apple on the packaging tip is supposed to mean that the clay mask contains AHA fruit acid to help remove the skin cuticles left even after cleansing. I hope it works, if not I have to go for another round of facial.

And live collagen to keep skin firm
The peeling clay mask also contains live collagen because that is what Dotfree bases its products on. All of its products contains collagen which I know is very important to Japanese women. Collagen helps to maintain the elasticity of the skin and prevent aging, so collagen should basically be in all skincare products to me!

The thing about Dotfree clay mask is that it is a watery consistency rather than cream. No matter how much I apply on my face, it is never going to build up into a thick layer. I think many of us are more used to Innisfree's clay mask?

So, I just made sure all my face is covered, especially my nose, and waited 3-5 minutes for it to dry up. After it dried up, I tried to peeled it off instead of rinsing it off because I wanted to test it.

It does not peel off as a smooth, thin sheet. Instead, it breaks off into small crumbly pieces. So make sure you are near the toilet when you rub the clay mask off your face.

Otherwise, rinsing is actually better. The peeling just does not work that well for me.

Not an exfoliating clay mask, but very gentle on the face
The clay mask is not like the exfoliating kind that I usually use. It is very gentle as it does not have any microgel exfoliators in it. When I applied it, I did not have any stinging feeling unlike some other face pack. It feels refreshing on skin.

But I would have liked to peel it to be able to check that my blackheads have been removed, like how I do that with my Kose Mask White black peeling mask.

I hope to be able to try their All-in-One Essence from their Resillence line in future nmnl boxes! The reason why is because their Resillence line is the main line with 2000mg of live collagen and their all-in-one combines 23 essences together, like how the Melon all-in-one gel combines several nourishing extracts in 1 gel!

Check out all other skincare essential products in April's NMNL Beauty Box!
